I should call these posts ‘Countdown to SN Season 5 Premiere’.

I think I will – as of tomorrow.

I really felt for Dean in these episodes, more so than usual. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I have younger siblings, and imagining having to do what Dean is doing, and listening to them going through Demon Blood detox would really get to me.

Poor Dean. He’s really suffering as he listens to Sam screaming.

And kudos to Jensen for getting to me – again. I might have been moved – maybe – by the look of despair in his eyes. Darn you Jensen.

It makes me question yet again how one can draw the line between doing what’s right and doing what one thinks is right. In this case, Dean was right to be putting Sam through the demon blood detox and he was right about Ruby – but just as Dean was convinced he was right, Sam is also convinced that he is right. And we humans are quite weird creatures – we would rather destroy one another than to admit that we just might be wrong, or not as right as we’d like to think.

One reason perhaps for this situation is that there was no solid way for the boys to investigate the truth for themselves. Last I heard, there was no ‘blood demon detox’ entry in Wikipedia, nor is there a ‘Demons for Dummies’ books. So perhaps it was inevitable that the boys fell into that situation, which suited their personalities and the raw emotions that had shaped their lives rather than a rational decision making process.

But what about the rest of us, in our day to day lives? I think we are lucky that we live rather boring lives with no black smoke or yellow-eyed demons (or unlucky, depending on your POV). Most of what we might have questions about does have something written about it. Depending on the topic, it might be very developed, researched and catalogued, but in this day and age, you can find something about everything on the Internet.

Seriously, how did people live before Wikipedia?

In any case, I don’t ever want to be stuck in Dean’s situation (poor Dean, listening to Sam’s screams – wait, I already said that, no? It’s all Jensen’s fault, I tell you). So I guess it’s a matter of remembering that I could always be totally wrong, and always keeping an open mind – without letting go of my core values.

On a related side note, I found the ‘demon blood detox’ amusing, albeit in a disturbing way. Anyone else?

Only 11 days left.
