Planning The Week – More Thoughts on a Feature that Should Have Been Easy to Launch

Happy Sunday!  This blogger uses Sundays to plan and prepare for the upcoming week.  I have been asked so many times about the resources that help me plan a full week that I decided to launch the “Planning the Week” feature with three concomitant components: a recommended book to make your commute easier; a healthy recipe to make your week tastier and healthier; and a planning/planner tip to keep it all running smoothly.

—————————

I haven’t made much leeway when it comes to this feature, although I do have a pretty new header for it, as well as a temporary title!  It really reminds me of the early days of my blog, when I felt I had so much to say, but nothing really substantive would come out.  Last week, I shared my surprise as how difficult it has been to launch the third feature in a an overarching, Sundays-are-to-plan-my-week themed-day.  While I make excellent use of my planner to figure out what I need to do over the course of the next six days, it feels like I simply don’t know where to start.

I got a lot of amazing emails, DMs, and Facebook messages from awesome readers encouraging me to hang in there because the topic would be really interesting to them.  I also got a few requesting that, until I figure out what I wanted the feature to look like, I blog a bit more about the process.  And I thought to myself, why not?

After all, Rome wasn’t built in one day, and neither were some of the most amazing blogs about planning that I know of.  I often write about community and empowerment; what if, by sharing some of the most difficult parts of getting a feature started, I could inspire others to embark on this amazing journey that is blogging?  Or this amazing sub-journey that is setting up a feature?  Or on any journey, for that matter?

So I decided that, instead of writing a limpid and insipid post about planning and planners, I would feature someone whose journey into planning and planners has greatly inspired me.  I mentioned her before a few times in various posts and tweets: the lovely Mae Badiyan, lawyer, entrepreneur, and planner extraordinaire.   She started small, some five years ago, then built, slowly but strategically and carefully, to build an amazing collection of inspiring resources: an Instagram account (which has recently topped 10,000 followers), a YouTube channel featuring over 130 videos, various Pinterest boards totalling some 1,800 followers, and a beautiful blog which features, as of a couple of weeks ago, a shop where one can buy planner stickers and can soon sign-up for classes on personal and business development.

Congratulations, Mae, and what in the world–teach me your ways 😉  I have a feeling that next week’s post is going to feature my favorite Mae Badiyan YouTube videos on planning, because this blogger is having some trouble launching.  I can’t wait until le grand déclic!
