Following blogs is a lot of fun. While discovering a mature, well-known, popular blog is always great, there is something special about discovering a new blog as well. Following a new or nascent blog gives readers great insight into the blogger as he or she learns their voice, their style, and who they are as a blogger.
Leah’s blog, The Calico Cat, was launched about a year ago. She explains that “The Calico Cat is primarily a beauty+lifestyle blog where I review products, scheme up new makeup tutorials and showcase the occasional outfit of the day. I also cover other topics too, such as college life, book reviews and recipes.”
The coral on white minimalist blog is a little hard to navigate; the landing page is actually a welcome page from which the blog can be accessed—under the “Blog” option in the top menu bar. The only other navigation option at this time to further narrow one’s search for post is a pull-down menu on the sidebar. Different categories are listed in this menu which makes it a little easier to navigate, but a pull down menu in the top menu bar with all the categories would be much easier.
While none of the categories have been fully exploited in the last year, they are a lot of fun to explore as a reader. Some of her blogging experiments I personally hope become permanent features include her posts on college life—I would love to find out how the rest of her college experience shapes up to be. I love discovering new blogs, so I hope the “Meet the Blogger” feature continues growing. Unsurprisingly, I would love to see her continue reviewing books (shocking, I know) as well as sharing recipes, since I’m always on the lookout for new ones.
